Last month we did a post about 3 of the world’s largest handguns with the Pfeifer Zeliska .600 Nitro Express winning the current title. Now, though, we’re going to take a look at the one of the smallest handguns available on the market, the Heizer Defense Double Tap. While it’s certainly not going to pack as much punch as the Pfeifer Zeliska Nitro Express, the Heizer is a unique firearm that you’re sure to enjoy shooting.
Overview of The Heizer Defense Double Tap
There are a number of small, compact handguns available on the market, but few are as polished as the Heizer Defense Double Tap. Released earlier this year, the Heizer Double Tap is less than half an inch thick and weighs only 14 ounces. As you can see from this information, it’s not only a small pistol, but it’s extremely light weight as well. What Bullets Does It Shoot?
The Heizer Defense Double Taps is available in two different models – a 9mm and .45 caliber model. The size and weight is nearly exactly the same for both of the models so it’s ultimately a personal preference on which one you prefer.
How Does It Work?
You may notice the Heizer Defense Double Tap has no external firing hammer. Instead, it uses 3 ball bearings and a hidden internal hammer to trigger the rounds. This hidden hammer reduces the size and load of the firearm to an even greater extent.
Alluminum vs Titanium
The Heizer Defense Double Tap comes in either aluminum (starting at $500) or titanium (starting at $730). Both of these materials will function and perform exactly the same with the titanium weighing slightly more. However, the benefit to purchasing titanium is that it’s rust-resistance and will likely last years longer than the aluminum model.
Should I Purchase The Heizer Double Tap
With a price tag of $500 to $750, the Heizer Double Tap isn’t extremely expensive but it’s certainly not the cheapest either. When deciding if it’s the right firearm for you, it’s important to remember that it only has the ability to hold two rounds of ammunition. This could be enough ammunition for certain circumstances, but I prefer to hand at least 6 in my gun. Still, this is a fun gun to own, shoot and show off to other firearm collectors.
