Description
Application of life science techniques used by professionals in research laboratories to a research project to discover and characterize novel bacteriophages. Topics include: creating a safe workplace, working safely with chemical and biological hazards, documentation in the lab, measurement in the laboratory, preparing solutions and growth media, biological assays, manipulation of nucleic acids, and basic microbiological techniques. Prerequisite: SBL212 or permission of instructor. Corequisite: SBL315 or permission of the instructor. Fall semester. 1 credit. Fee.
