Description

Assessment and evaluation are the cornerstones of differentiated instruction. Assessment is the process of documenting students' knowledge, skills, and dispositions in measurable terms, while evaluation is the process of making value judgments-i.e., assigning grades-based on what students know, believe, or are able to do. The purpose of this course, which explores these processes in-depth, is to provide preservice teachers with opportunities to design and implement various types of assessments. Topics include differentiated, performance, and value-added assessment, as well as competitive, norm-referenced, and criterion-referenced evaluation. Clearances required. Offered: Fall and spring semesters. Prerequisiste(s): SED 205.
