Description
Students examine processes and procedures required in determining eligibility and delivery of special education services as dictated by federal and state law. Topics include screening procedures, assessments (authentic, formative, summative, diagnostic, benchmark), IEP development and evaluation, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Response to Intervention (RTI), inclusion issues, disciplinary procedures, and transition-related legislation in fields of special and vocational education.Field component required.
